It should be possible to set yourself up on a website a bit like transport for London where you name a few postcodes… e.g. “Home”, “Fred”, “MumDad” etc…
Then when you are out and about you should be able to text “Home” from your mobile phone to a number. It should respond by telling you the bast way home. It should also take responsibility to make sure you kept up to date on any changes.
For example. You text “Home” to the service. It works out who you are from your number and also where you are. It texts you back the best route home. It knows roughly how long it takes you get to each stage on the way home. If there is a problem with the route (e.g. signal failure), it should send a text update.
In addition, you should be able to text a postcode to the service and get back the best route.

London underground should allow mobile companies to set up transmitters in stations so that commuters can be given updates on the routes.
